Students will work closely with their personal Career Transition Specialist as they continue to prepare to enter the workforce. As students prepare to enter the workforce, they will work with center staff, Job Corps service providers, and placement agencies who assist with successful employment and transitional services. Students will maintain contact with all areas to ensure services continue through their first 12 months of successful employment. The successful student will have learned independent living skills including parenting, wellness, and employability. Contact with center staff and other employment providers is essential to a solid beginning of the student's employment.
Flint Hills Job Corps works with other agencies in assisting students as they relocate out of the area. If necessary, students are referred to an appropriate agency for services. In some cases, the National Training Contractors for the industrial trades also provide transition assistance. The agencies include Women in Community Service (WICS), Plasterers' & Cement Masons' (OPCMIA), Home Builders Institute (HBI), and TCU Advanced Training Program.
Communication between the students and their Career Transition Specialist is important to successfully provide services during career placement and up to 12 months following the first employment after leaving the center.
We always want to hear from our former students on their successes, job search stories, and training needs. If you are a former Flint Hills Job Corps student, please let us know how you are. Please send us an email.
