WHERE WILL I LIVE?
Each Job Corps center is unique. They all, however, have a campus like setting with dormitories where you will live. The dorms are divided into male and female sections. You may have from one to four roommates. Flint Hills also serves nonresidential students who live close to the center.
When you arrive on center, you will also receive a student handbook and a schedule of activities. You will be asked to complete a variety of government forms. A designated mentor will then give you a tour and answer any questions you may have about the center or programs offered here. You will also be assigned to your dormitory room where bed linens, bath towels and a locker will be provided.
Flint Hills Job Corps has a full service cafeteria that provides several options for full meals three times a day, as well as providing an evening snack.

Can I leave at night or on weekends?
For students who live on center, a pass is required to leave. Passes are distributed to students for weekend visits with family or overnight trips off center. They are also given for holidays as well as any emergency situations that may arise.

SINGLE PARENT DORMITORY

Flint Hills Job Corps offers facilities and programs for single parents and their dependent children. This enables student employees to participate in the Job Corps program and achieve their goals without having to be separated from their children.
The Single Parent Dorm and the Child Development Center are designed to accommodate 36 residential students and up to 36 children. We are open to single parents with one or two children, ranging from six months to six years in age.
The Single Parent Program is comprehensive. It includes parenting components designed to develop good parenting skills, activities for parents and their children, and the total development of responsibility as a parent.
The parent and child/children have a private room with a shared kitchen. Safe living conditons and proper nutrition are some of the services provided. While the parent is in vocational or academic classes during the day, the child/children will be cared for in the Child Development Center.
The Child Development Center is staffed by educated teachers who are trained to work with young children. The purpose of the CDC is to provide a safe, nurturing, caring and educational environment with developmentally appropriate curricula.
